New Review!
Very happy to have my new poetry collection reviewed by author Elizabeth Havey on her recent blog. Read the review here. She writes “Rachel Dacus is an amazing poet, choosing her words to explore ideas…every poem a gift that touches, informs and shines” I’m honored to have the book so enthusiastically reviewed.
One of the dimensions of the book I’m most pleased by is the art work I included, drawings, photos, and paintings. While Beth Havey ascribes them to me, I have to point out they’re all royalty-free images mostly found in a wonderful sit called Pixabay. I acknowledged the artists who provided the art work in the book. None of them are my work — I only wish I drew this well.
Art Nouveau
The drawings most are done in the style of Art Nouveau, a trend that flourished around the turn of the 20th century and was characterized by organic, flowing lines and nature-inspired motifs, plant forms, and curves. I grew up with books illustrated in this style, and so my inclusion of this type of art is a tip of the hat to those artists.
