It’s a magical realism novel of estranged sisters, one ghost, and an impossible sacrifice. That’s the premise of my new book, THE INVISIBLES. And it now has a cover! I’m thrilled to share the cover design by my amazing designer, Michelle Argyle, of Melissa Williams Design! The concept was that these estranged sisters, inheriting an Italian villa, share months and meals of debate about what to do with the place — to keep or to sell. Many cups of coffee over many tearful, laughing, angry, or sad conversations, as they plumb the depths of family dynamics and discover family secrets hidden away till now. At nearly thirty, Saffron is running from the troubles she can’t stop creating. Her sister Elinor is running from truths she can’t face. When they inherit their father’s cottage in Italy, the feuding sisters take possession and find themselves stuck together for months in battle, in the most beautiful place in the world. Elinor thinks she’s holding a protective wing over her wayward little sis, who sees “invisibles” but needs a big dose of reality. Someone else has already taken over the house–the spirit of the Romantic Era poet Percy Shelley. Italy infuses its magic into their decision, until a surprising night changes everything for the sisters and their friends. Praise for this story of sisterhood and sacrifice: “Dacus’s deft portrayal of the love and strain between sisters that will keep many readers on the edge of their seat.” – Willa Ramsey, author of Everything But The Earl “” — Lainey Cameron, author of the award-winning women’s fiction novel The Exit Strategy.
